Meet Jonathan
Picturing your destination is the first step to achieving something great
When I was 17, my family spent Christmas in a homeless shelter. With no tree or presents, it didn’t feel like Christmas. Just another dreary day in the shelter. I found a length of garland and created the outline of a Christmas tree on the wall of our room. This small act transformed the room into a holiday gathering place – into Christmas.
At a young age, I understood the power of pictures: The power of creating an image in your mind, sharing it with others, and taking them to that place – a place where they didn’t know they could go!
Some people learn about leadership by overcoming challenging life situations. Others learn about it by serving in high-level leadership posts. I developed my leadership principles through both sets of experiences. I went from homelessness as a child to wielding high-powered legal positions. I bring a unique perspective to leadership, which I illustrate with my fine-art photography in my presentations.
You can use the power of pictures to set, share, and achieve a bold vision.
In my leadership roles with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, I honed the ability to set a compelling vision – a clear picture of a destination. I learned how to share the vision, generate excitement, and help team members move from “we can’t do that” to “we did it – we really did it!”
My challenge to you …
Think about a compelling vision for yourself, for your department, or for your entire organization. If you already have one, how can you inspire your team to move from “we can’t do that” to “we did it!” If you’d like advice, call me – I’d love to help.
